Admiring gardens all my life, I have thought of the garden I want one day and as grow old tending, I will recall my favorite memories. After losing my home in my divorce five years ago, God provided a special home just about this time last year, and soon, I will focus on my garden. I will be patient. After my sons, my spare time now is focused on my music. It takes many years to cultivate and prune and have just the right blend of colors and fragrances in a garden. The same goes with a band, I think. I have been waiting so many years for just the right people to come along. Talent is important, but moreover it is important to find like-minded people. Having a band is like making your own family; each person is needed to be whole or complete. Working around town, I found that I needed to ask about other musicians for help to develop the sound for the cd and then also to be able to play larger venues. To prepare for the cd, I asked Joel to join us on some tunes. When he started playing my songs, it was like magic. He is amazing at interpreting my songs on the keyboard. He understood me. I never thought Joel would want to join us because he is a solo artist, but at this point in his life, it just fits. His has a great musical sense and to top it all off, he is a sweetheart. Then of course, we have Dave. This man has a wealth of the history of rock and roll in his heart with all the experiences of his life. Dave reminds me of Jerry Garcia, an old hippy dude with lots of spunk. The best is yet to come with Dave; he has talent we have barely tapped into yet. Tony started playing bass just a few months ago, but he sounds like a pro already. We haven't found just the right drummer yet, but we know God will provide when the time is right. We four get along so well and respect each other's abilities and ideas. Right now, we can't have it all, but we are working on it! The first hurdle has been accomplished. We performed at the MyTexasMusic Awards Show After Party. WE ROCKED!!, as Dave says. We each had different people coming up and networking with us. We got a few invitations and propositions...we shall see where all that leads. Presently, we have a few more gigs in town and around Texas lined up all the way to the CD launch, but we need to focus on the CD and then the CD Party. GREAT THINGS ARE COMING!! We can all feel it! The Kat Rose Garden is on hold for a while, but the Kat Rose Band is just getting started! We are ready to bloom! |
